Gunfire, Allenby crossing

Egypt Daily News – Three Israeli security guards were killed following an attack at a crossing between Jordan and the occupied West Bank, where gunfire erupted at the Allenby Bridge.

Israeli security officials say that a “terrorist” opened fire on workers at the crossing and was neutralized. An Israeli official stated that the assailant was a Jordanian driver.

The incident occurred around 10 AM, and according to the first station manager, Alex Chen, the Jordanian truck driver was present at the station. He got out of his car and approached the security guards, then opened fire on them, killing them all at close range, before being shot himself by other security guards.

Israel has temporarily closed the three border crossings between Israel and the occupied West Bank, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing this attack as the act of a “despicable terrorist,” in his own words.

On their part, the Jordanians have opened an investigation and say they will seek to uncover the truth of what happened in this incident.
