Egypt Daily News – The Hajj season has concluded this year following the end of the three days of Tashreeq and the Farewell Tawaf. Saudi Arabia announced that the movement of pilgrims was smooth and incident-free. This year, the Kingdom allowed pilgrims to obtain electronic Hajj certificates.
Pilgrims completed the Hajj rituals after performing the three days of Tashreeq, the Farewell Tawaf, and the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah in the Grand Mosque, amid a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The rituals began last Wednesday with the arrival at Mina, then standing at Arafat on Thursday, overnight stay at Muzdalifah, and returning to Mina for the stoning of the Jamarat, sacrifice, and the days of Tashreeq.
On Monday June 9, 2025, pilgrims performed the stoning of the three Jamarat in Mina, starting with the smallest, then the middle, and finally the largest Aqabah, before heading to Mecca for the Farewell Tawaf.
Suhail Mi from Malaysia said about his experience: “I would like to urge Muslims to perform Hajj as soon as possible, because the Hajj program trains you to become a better Muslim. If you look at it from a very personal perspective, it’s like a training camp to become the best Muslim ever,” he said.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the transportation of pilgrims was smooth and efficient, both during the stoning rituals and the journey to the Grand Mosque. This was confirmed by Mahmoud El-Gendy from Egypt, who expressed gratitude for the smooth organization of Hajj this year. For many pilgrims, Hajj is not just a religious duty, but also a rich and profound journey.
Sarah Noor from Malaysia said that Hajj is “a deep and humbling experience. I hope to achieve righteousness through worship, that God forgives all my sins, and guides me to a good ending in this world and the hereafter.”
The Saudi General Authority for Statistics announced that the number of pilgrims this year reached 1,673,230 from inside and outside the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia also reported a significant drop in heatstroke cases during this Hajj season. Abdullah Asiri, Deputy Minister of Health, said there was a 90 percent decrease in heatstroke cases compared to last year.
He said, “We did not observe any noticeable increase or unusual numbers regarding these cases in hospitals and intensive care units.”
He added, “We do not withhold any healthcare services. For example, we admit people to hospitals and provide them with all the care they need. We performed more than 250 cardiac catheterization procedures for people with chronic heart conditions, and we provided immediate care for stroke patients using the mobile stroke intervention unit—the first of its kind in large gatherings.”
A tally showed that more than 1,000 people died during the 2024 Hajj season, as extreme heat affected nearly two million participants. The Kingdom updated its health and fitness requirements for this year’s pilgrimage, installed hundreds of cooling devices, and built an air-conditioned walkway to help prevent heat-related deaths.
On Monday, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched the option to issue electronic certificates for pilgrims and workers through the “Nusuk” app. This initiative aims to document the spiritual experience of pilgrims and honor those who contributed to the success of the Hajj season.
The app allows pilgrims to generate a digital certificate of Hajj completion once they finish the rituals. This can be done easily by accessing the app, choosing a certificate design, then issuing and saving it digitally, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Monday.
This service is one of the modern documentation tools that offer pilgrims a meaningful keepsake of their spiritual journey and reflects a sense of pride in fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam.
Similarly, the ministry made it possible to issue certificates of appreciation for staff working under the supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, recognizing their organizational, field, and humanitarian efforts that contributed to the success of the season and the service of the pilgrims.
This initiative is part of a suite of digital services provided by the Nusuk app globally, aimed at enhancing the pilgrim’s experience and promoting technological integration in the Hajj journey, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
