Egypt Daily News – On Saturday, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris accepted an invitation from CNN to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23.

This announcement comes as both candidates gear up for the final weeks of their campaign. Jane O’Malley Dillon, Harris’s campaign manager, expressed confidence in her candidate’s readiness to debate, urging Trump to agree to the event.

The upcoming debate is expected to resemble the first presidential debate of 2024 between Trump and President Joe Biden, which took place last June at CNN studios in Atlanta.

Trump had previously suggested he might consider participating in another debate after facing Harris on September 10, although he seemed to change his stance during a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, stating that it might be too late for another debate since early voting has already started.

He criticized the timing, implying that the debate is an attempt by Harris to gain ground in the polls.

Despite Trump’s reluctance, Harris took to social media to reiterate her invitation, expressing her hope that Trump would participate in the CNN debate.

The format for this debate is planned to mirror the earlier one: 90 minutes of questions from moderators without a live studio audience.

CNN has officially invited both Harris and Trump, emphasizing the importance of allowing American voters to hear from the presidential candidates as they make their final decisions leading up to the election.

The network looks forward to receiving responses from both campaigns regarding their participation in the upcoming debate.
