Egypt Daily News – The Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris called on Tuesday for an end to the war in Gaza, stating that Israel should not reoccupy the Palestinian territory once the ongoing conflict, which has lasted for nearly a year, comes to an end.

Harris bid farewell in a speech she delivered in Philadelphia before the National Association of Black Journalists, calling for a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), for a two-state solution, and for stability in the Middle East in a way that limits Iran’s influence.

Harris, the U.S. Vice President, responded to questions posed by three journalists, saying, “We have made it clear to ourselves that this deal must be in the interest of everyone in the region.”

The Gaza Ministry of Health stated that at least 41,252 people have been killed and 95,497 injured in the Israeli attack on the territory, which is governed by Hamas, since October 7th.

The war began that day when Hamas attacked Israel, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 people, most of whom were civilians, and the capture of around 250 hostages, according to Israeli statistics.
