Egypt Daily News – After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Houthis that anyone who harms Israel “will pay a very heavy price,” the response came from the Iran-backed group.
The leader of the Houthis in Yemen, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, said that his group is in a state of open war with Israel, the United States, and Britain, stressing that his group will continue to escalate and target ships in the Red Sea in support of the Palestinians, according to his claim.
Today, Thursday, he said, in a speech that lasted more than an hour, that the Israeli bombing that targeted the ports of Hodeidah and two power stations in Sanaa at dawn on Thursday will not deter them from continuing to target Israel and support Palestine, he said, stressing that the bombing resulted in the deaths of 9 civilians in the Israeli raids this morning on the capital Sanaa and Hodeidah Governorate, which coincided with the Houthis launching two hypersonic ballistic missiles at Tel Aviv.
High price
This statement came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Thursday, warned the Houthis that anyone who harms Israel “will pay a very heavy price,” after Tel Aviv launched air strikes on the group’s “military targets” in Yemen.
Netanyahu said in a statement: “After Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Assad regime in Syria, the Houthis have become almost the last remaining arm of the Iranian axis of evil.”
Israeli F-16 fighters launched raids on various areas in Sanaa and Hodeidah, targeting power plants and the ports of Ras Issa and Al-Salif in Hodeidah.
Since the outbreak of war in Gaza on October 7 last year (2023), the Houthis have launched dozens of missile attacks and marches towards Israel, and also targeted dozens of cargo ships in the Red Sea, “in support of Gaza.”
However, some observers believed that after eliminating significant capabilities of Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as Hamas, Israel had become more prepared and determined to strike the Houthis.
It has already declared explicitly more than once that it has “eliminated all of Iran’s arms in the region and only the Houthis remain,” and it will repeat it today as well.
