Imam Ashour reconciles

Egypt Daily News – Lawyer Ali Fayez, defending the security personnel who accuses Al-Ahly star Imam Ashour of assaulting him, announced that the player reconciled with his client in a friendly session in his office.

He said in a post on Facebook: “A reconciliation was reached between Imam Ashour and Abdullah Mustafa in the presence of the player’s father, and Abdullah obtained his rights and the necessary compensation.”

The Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanor Court of Appeal had ruled to accept the appeal submitted by the Public Prosecution against the acquittal of Al-Ahly player Imam Ashour, in the incident of his assault on a security personnel in Arkan Mall, and the court ruled to imprison Imam Ashour for 6 months.

In October, the misdemeanor court acquitted Al-Ahly club football star Imam Ashour, accused of assaulting a security personnel at a Arkan mall in Sheikh Zayed, with the help of others.

The report submitted by a security personnel at the mall stated that Al-Ahly star Imam Ashour and others assaulted him, after Imam claimed that his wife was harassed in the mall.

The prosecution heard the statements of the security officer who submitted the report and who said that he was surprised while he was on a work shift during Eid at exactly 6:45 a.m., by Al-Ahly star Imam Ashour storming the mall, along with others, numbering between 10 and 15 people, while he was angry and said that his wife had been harassed while she was there to watch a movie at the mall.

The security personnel added that Imam Ashour insulted him, assaulted him, grabbed his clothes, and pulled him hard until he fell to the ground. Then his friends beat him, causing injury, and to fall unconsciousness

When the player and his friends were told that he was not harmed, they left the mall. According to Imam’s wife, she was subjected to harassment at 5:00 in the morning, in the presence of a large number of family members, and she did not inform security of the incident at all, and thus the mall security men were unable to help her.

The prosecution heard the player’s statements regarding the incident, who confirmed that he went to the mall after receiving a call from his wife stating that she was being harassed, and that he did not assault the security personnel.
