Egypt Daily News – The International Criminal Court’s decision to issue arrest warrants against Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Galant revealed the hypocrisy of US President Joe Biden’s administration and American double standards.

The British newspaper “The Guardian” confirmed that the United States had previously welcomed the war crimes warrants issued by the International Criminal Court against Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other Russian officials, on charges of committing atrocities in Ukraine, while it denounced the court’s prosecution of Netanyahu and Gallant, a mixed position that was revealed by the Biden administration and its followers. Double standards, especially with the Global South.

It continued that the hypocrisy of the Biden administration became clear after the Gaza war, as Biden refused to consider what is happening in Gaza as genocide and war crimes, despite his position on the Ukraine war.

It noted that some member states had ignored ICC warrants before, but Netanyahu and Gallant would face the risk of arrest if they traveled to any country that signed the 1998 Rome Statute.

The “The Guardian” explained that the arrest warrants may lead to increased external pressure on the Netanyahu government, at a time when the United States seeks to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas movement, but they may strengthen the Prime Minister’s political position in Israel in the short term, as most Israelis refuse the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court as interference in the internal affairs of their country.

It also indicated that this political position will soon disappear, especially with Netanyahu recently angering the Israelis, due to his unwillingness to complete a deal to free the detainees.

Joe Biden said that he does not believe that Netanyahu is making enough efforts to secure a ceasefire, after the Israeli occupation prime minister pledged not to give up Israeli control over strategic lands inside Gaza, and Netanyahu accused Hamas of failing to negotiate in good faith.

The Guardian continued that although Biden criticized Netanyahu many times for prolonging the Gaza war, threatened him with a ban on sending weapons to Israel, and accused him of besieging Gaza and starving the Palestinian people, it seems that all the criticisms were just statements devoid of any actual actions in this regard.
