The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has revealed the full details surrounding a disturbing incident of road harassment that recently went viral on social media, involving the dangerous pursuit of two young women by multiple vehicles on Wahat Road in Giza.

The incident, which occurred on August 13, was captured in a video clip widely circulated online. The footage shows three private cars aggressively tailing and harassing a vehicle driven by a young woman, accompanied by her friend, in a reckless and threatening manner. As the young women attempted to evade the pursuers, their car collided with a parked truck on the wrong side of the road, resulting in injuries to both occupants.

Following the incident, the driver of the targeted vehicle a university student who sustained bruises and abrasions, filed an official report with the Giza Security Department. She stated that while driving with her friend, who suffered a forehead injury, they were suddenly targeted by three cars. The drivers attempted to cut them off, forcing them into evasive maneuvers that led to the crash.

The vehicle the victims were driving was found to be legally registered and licensed. Both young women are residents of Giza.

Authorities quickly launched an investigation, and through surveillance and procedural tracking, they successfully identified and apprehended the suspects. Those arrested include three students and one ride-hailing app driver, all residing in the 6th of October district. The suspects confessed to the incident during police questioning, admitting to chasing and harassing the victims as shown in the circulated video.

The three vehicles involved in the chase have been seized, and legal measures are being taken against all four suspects.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that it continues to take such incidents seriously and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining safety on public roads. The case has now been referred to the prosecution for further investigation and judicial proceedings.

This latest event has sparked renewed debate on social media about road safety and harassment in Egypt, especially incidents targeting women. Calls have grown louder for stricter penalties and more robust enforcement to deter such behavior and ensure accountability.
