Iranian security chief Ali Larijani on Tuesday issued a veiled threat to U.S. President Donald Trump, warning him to take care “not to be eliminated” while dismissing what he described as Washington’s “empty threats.”

Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Larijani said, “Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation,” signaling Tehran’s defiance in the face of U.S. warnings. His statement was in direct response to a post by Trump on Truth Social, in which the U.S. president threatened to strike Iran “TWENTY TIMES HARDER” if it disrupted oil flow through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The remarks come amid escalating tensions following U.S. and Israeli strikes on February 28 that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, triggering a wider regional conflict. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks against Israel and other countries across the Middle East.

The Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly 20 percent of the world’s crude oil typically passes, has been heavily disrupted. Iranian forces have threatened to block all oil exports to U.S. and Israeli allies as long as the conflict continues, raising global energy and security concerns.
