Egypt Daily News – Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has ordered the military to “respond forcefully” to what he described as Iran’s violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

In remarks reported Tuesday morning by Yedioth Ahronoth, Katz stated that he had directed the Israeli military to launch “intensive strikes on targets and infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime in the heart of Tehran.”

Shortly before Katz’s announcement, the Israeli military confirmed that it had detected new missile launches from Iran toward Israel. Defense systems were activated in response, with multiple interceptions reported.

In a statement published on the military’s official page on X, Israeli authorities urged citizens to enter shelters and remain there until further notice.

Ceasefire in Question Despite Official Start

The ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel formally came into effect on Tuesday. However, confusion and conflicting information surrounded the announcement, especially as rocket attacks and military alerts continued.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump urged both sides to honor the truce, writing on Truth Social: “The ceasefire is now in effect. Please do not violate it.”

In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump further expressed optimism, describing the ceasefire as “permanent and unlimited.” He declared, “The conflict is completely over,” and added, “I believe Israel and Iran will never fire at each other again.”
