Egypt Daily News – Israel’s Channel 14 reported that the threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump, along with the intensive military drills conducted by the Israeli army, suggest that a large-scale attack on Iran may be imminent. The channel added that the potential strike could be the most severe against a sovereign nation since World War II, potentially leading to the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program, which has been developed over decades.
The channel further reported that the attack could deliver a heavy blow to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the military arm of the regime, potentially opening the door to significant internal changes in Iran, possibly even leading to a change of regime in Tehran.
Expected Iranian Response and a Test of Israel’s Defensive Capabilities
If the attack takes place, the channel predicted that Iran would retaliate by launching missiles and drones towards Israel, putting the Israeli air defense system to its toughest test in history. It also noted that Israel’s home front would need to withstand a large-scale attack.
The channel clarified that the scenario of the attack is still under consideration and could be carried out either by the United States alone, Israel alone, or as part of a joint plan, which is the preferred option for Tel Aviv.
According to the report, Iran finds itself in a more vulnerable position today, especially after Israeli strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, along with recent U.S. attacks on the Houthis in Yemen. These developments, according to the channel, mean that Tehran would have to rely on its own capabilities in any future confrontation.
Massive Missile Arsenal Threatening Israeli Depth
The channel warned that Iran possesses a massive missile arsenal, including Shahab and Khaybar missiles, along with Shahed drones, all capable of inflicting significant damage to Israeli infrastructure and strategic targets deep within Israeli territory.
The report concluded that any confrontation with Iran might not just be a swift airstrike but could escalate into a prolonged war involving the launch of thousands of missiles daily, potentially resulting in heavy casualties and destruction within Israel, requiring substantial cohesion on the home front. Relations between Iran and both the United States and Israel have seen notable escalation recently, amid growing international concerns over the possibility of military conflict in the region.
On Monday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Iran would deliver a “strong blow” to the United States if President Trump’s threats to bomb Iran were carried out unless a new nuclear agreement was reached.
Trump had earlier threatened to bomb Iran if it did not agree to talks within a two-month deadline. In response, Iran affirmed its determination to respond “firmly and immediately” to any threat.
For its part, Israel views Iran as a fundamental threat to its security, especially as the date for lifting international sanctions on Tehran approaches in October 2025.
This current escalation is also affecting global markets, particularly with the expected rise in oil prices. This increase reflects concerns over the potential for a broader war in the region, which could negatively impact the global economy.
