Kofta Dawood Pasha

Ingredients:
For the Kofta:

  • ½ kg ground meat
  • 1 grated zucchini
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons white breadcrumbs (fine)
  • 1 egg

For the tomato sauce:

  • 4 grated tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste (like Heinz)
  • 1 finely grated onion

How to Prepare:

Making the Kofta:
In a large bowl, mix the ground meat with the zucchini, carrot, onion, garlic, cheese, breadcrumbs, and egg.
Stir the ingredients well until combined.
Shape the mixture into small, evenly sized balls.

Browning the Kofta (optional):
You can fry the kofta balls in a little oil until browned, or bake them in the oven until partially cooked.

Making the sauce:
In a pot over heat, add a little oil, then the grated onion, and sauté until soft.
Add the grated tomatoes and tomato paste, and let the mixture simmer over medium heat until it thickens slightly.

Cooking the Kofta in the sauce:
Add the kofta balls to the sauce and let them cook for 20–30 minutes until fully done and infused with flavor.

Serving:
Serve hot with white rice or pasta, as desired.
