Egypt Daily News – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia does not imagine an easy solution to the Ukraine crisis after President-elect Donald Trump comes to power in the United States.
He added: “We have no illusions about an easy solution to the Ukraine crisis, which can only be settled through a comprehensive security agreement in Europe that takes into account Russian interests and the legitimate interests of all other countries.”
He said: “Everyone links the arrival of the Donald Trump administration to changes in the crisis, while we have no illusions in this regard. There is a consensus between the two parties in Washington to continue supporting the Kiev regime.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented earlier today on the West handing over to Ukraine one billion dollars from the proceeds of its frozen Russian funds.
He said that this money was “stolen from the proceeds of Russian assets that were also illegally frozen, which justifies Russia to pursue legal prosecution by the West,” stressing Russia’s full adherence to its rights and interests.
The Russian government has confirmed more than once that Russia has some Western assets on its territory that it freezes and confiscates, and that it will respond in kind to any such step that the West may take.
