Egypt Daily News – Major General Samir Farag, a military and strategic expert, commented on the statements made by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, in which he said: “The peace agreement removed Egypt from the circle of war with a decision that changed the course of history” and “I will not allow them to breach the peace agreement.”
Farag, during an interview, stated that since signing the peace agreement, Egypt has never attempted to violate it. He emphasized that Egypt continues to develop its military, conducting training exercises daily.
He explained that “Israel is concerned after being engaged in urban warfare in Gaza for over 15 months. If Israel were to enter a conventional war, it would lose, and they are well aware of this. Therefore, the Israeli defense minister’s statements are merely threats. However, Egypt will not yield and will continue to strengthen its military.”
He continued: “It is Israel that has violated the peace agreement by entering the Philadelphi Corridor,” stressing that the statements made by some Israeli officials against Egypt stem from their awareness of Egypt’s military strength and capabilities.
He added that Israel had been seeking to entangle Egypt in a conflict in recent times, but “we do not get dragged into battles—we know when to make the right decision.”
