Egypt Daily News – Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, revealed the ministry’s efforts to address problems of network weakness in some areas, explaining that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority worked in coordination with telecommunications companies to provide effective technical solutions to confront these challenges.
The Minister explained, during the conference launching the “Wi-Fi Calls” service, that the sector was able to develop this new service that allows calls to be made over Wi-Fi networks, which makes it easier for citizens to improve the quality of communications in areas with limited coverage.
Dr. Amr Talaat added that implementing this service took more than a year of continuous work in cooperation with telecommunications companies, as part of the keenness to provide innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency of telecommunications services provided to citizens.
The Wi-Fi calling service allows making calls over the Internet instead of relying on traditional communication networks, but with the same customer number and at the cost of a regular minute.
