Egypt Daily News – It seems that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not intend to move towards a comprehensive deal in Gaza, as his office hinted that Tel Aviv, if the deal is completed, will return to fighting to achieve its goals, according to what was published by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

Recently, Israeli voices of opposition to the supposed deal with Hamas have become louder, with security officials saying that talk of “the next day” in Gaza, without providing an alternative to the politically dominant movement, will return Tel Aviv to a situation similar to October 6.

Netanyahu’s office had commented that entering into a deal does not mean “abandoning the goals that were set for the war,” but rather the army will resume fighting to achieve its goals, according to the newspaper.

In other words, the current Israeli trend is to move towards a “partial” deal, at which the war will not stop, and the Israeli army will not withdraw from Gaza as a result, as was rumored, in the words of Yedioth Ahronoth.

The Israeli military also agrees with the Shin Bet General Security Service that Hamas, despite the military losses it has incurred, still maintains its political and administrative influence in the Gaza Strip.

On the other hand, some Palestinian media hint at a contradiction in the Israeli titles of the war on Gaza, which include returning prisoners and eliminating Hamas, indicating that these two goals cannot go side by side in negotiations. “Netanyahu is negotiating with the only party to return the prisoners while working to destroy and eliminate its capabilities.”

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement the completion of negotiations on the ceasefire deal in Gaza, while the Israeli Walla website contained optimism, quoting Israeli officials who said: “Despite progress being made but there are still stumbling blocks.”
