Egypt Daily News – An individual was arrested near a rally in Coachella, California, where former President Donald Trump was campaigning. The man, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was found in possession of multiple firearms, including a shotgun and a loaded handgun, as well as a high-capacity magazine.
Law enforcement officials apprehended Miller at a checkpoint after he reportedly displayed fake VIP and press passes, which raised suspicions among the deputies. Upon searching his vehicle, authorities discovered a disorganized interior, a fake license plate, and multiple driver’s licenses and passports bearing different names. Miller’s actions were deemed irregular, prompting a thorough investigation.
Despite initial concerns about possible danger to Trump, the U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement later confirmed that the former president and attendees of the rally were not in jeopardy. Sheriff Chad Bianco suggested that the incident could have been an assassination attempt, although officials maintained that there was no direct evidence of such a plot.
Miller was booked on firearms charges and subsequently released on a $5,000 bail, with a court appearance scheduled for January 2, 2025. The investigation is ongoing, and federal authorities have expressed appreciation for the swift actions taken by the local law enforcement that ensured the safety of the rally.
