Zamalek win over Ahly

Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association announced officially the penalties for the Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek in the first round of the second phase of the league on Saturday.

The penalties are as follows:

  • The match result is officially recorded as a 3-0 victory for Zamalek, in accordance with Article (4.17) of the competition regulations.
  • Three additional points will be deducted from Al Ahly’s total, aside from the points lost due to the match forfeiture.
  • Al Ahly will bear all financial losses resulting from the withdrawal, including lost revenue from commercial contracts, broadcasting rights, and all other expenses related to participation in league matches prior to withdrawal, as per Article (8.17) of the competition regulations.

The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association also stated that it is awaiting the decision of the Egyptian Olympic Committee regarding Al Ahly’s appeal and will abide by the committee’s ruling.

The Egyptian Olympic Committee is reviewing Al Ahly’s complaint against the Football Association and the Professional Clubs Association.

The Egyptian Olympic Committee has referred Al Ahly’s complaint against the Egyptian Football Association and the Professional Clubs Association to the relevant committee for review. The complaint pertains to incidents related to the Cairo derby in the Egyptian League.

The Egyptian Olympic Committee has confirmed that it will work to resolve the complaint and respond before the start of the next round of the competition.

This comes in response to procedural violations related to the Cairo derby, particularly the decision to assign Egyptian referees to the match, contrary to the ruling of the Professional Clubs Association—which is responsible for organizing the league, stipulating that the match should be officiated by a foreign refereeing team to ensure fairness for all parties.
