Egypt Daily News – A Palestinian source revealed on Thursday that Washington has offered Hamas a deal to release 10 living hostages in exchange for a 60-day extension of the ceasefire in Gaza, the reopening of border crossings, and the resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries.

The Palestinian source, who is familiar with the negotiations between Hamas and the United States, told Sky News Arabia that “the U.S. proposal includes initiating negotiations on the second phase and determining the fate of Israeli forces along the Philadelphi Corridor after the hostages are released.”

The source added that “Hamas is still reviewing its response to the U.S. proposal.”

On Wednesday, a senior Hamas official confirmed to AFP that direct communications had taken place with the United States regarding the release of American hostages who remain in Gaza.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt also confirmed that U.S. officials have been engaged in “ongoing talks and discussions” with Hamas representatives, marking a departure from the long-standing U.S. policy of avoiding direct engagement with the group.

In response to questions about these negotiations, the White House stated that U.S. Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs, Adam Boehler, has been authorized to communicate directly with Hamas.

The United States has historically refrained from direct contact with Hamas, which was designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in 1997. The revelation of these talks came just before a stern warning from U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to unleash “the gates of hell” if Hamas does not release all remaining hostages.
