Egypt Daily News – During a recent meeting in Ashgabat, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed enhancing collaboration on various joint projects, particularly in the sectors of oil, gas, and energy.
Pezeshkian emphasized the constructive nature of their cooperation and the need to expedite initiatives in areas such as gas, infrastructure, desalination, and petrochemicals.
He noted that implementing agreements with neighboring countries would help Iran mitigate the adverse effects of sanctions. This meeting marked the first direct talks between the two leaders since Pezeshkian’s election following the death of his predecessor, Ibrahim Raisi, in a plane crash.
Putin highlighted the priority of Russian-Iranian relations, pointing to an increase in trade volume and shared perspectives on international issues.
Iran is also engaging more actively on the global stage, having recently joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS group. The two presidents are scheduled to meet again in Kazan, where they will further discuss current events in the Middle East.
Additionally, former Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji previously announced an agreement for Iran to receive 300 million cubic meters of Russian gas daily, positioning Iran as a regional supply hub and enhancing its economic and political security.
