Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, and Director of the Egyptian Military Academy Lieutenant General Ashraf Zaher.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the meeting reviewed the state’s efforts to qualify and train cadres in the field of communications, information technology and software, to become a cornerstone in the process of transformation to digitization, and therefore enhance digital exports as one of the axes of development of the national economy.
The meeting also touched on the efforts made to enhance Egypt’s competitive capabilities in this field to become one of the most prominent global destinations for investments by companies working in the field of exporting digital services, including software, in light of the competitive advantages that Egypt possesses in this regard. Among the advantages are its geographical location and the availability of qualified human resources.
The discussion also focused on developments pertinent to the Digital Pioneers initiative, which aims to qualify a large group of youth for free through scholarships in various fields of communications and information technology to help them enter the job market in this promising sector by providing technical and practical training in major companies, in addition to building personal skills, including languages.
The meeting also tackled the specializations that will be covered by the initiative, including Artificial Intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, software development, networks and digital infrastructure, digital arts, electronic circuit design, and building embedded systems.
During the meeting, the need to expand the base of the Digital Pioneers initiative beneficiaries was affirmed. Registration will be open to any citizen from any governorate who has the ability to receive education and has the desire to take communications and information technology as a professional path, regardless of their practical background and academic qualification.
The goal of the initiative is to create a major stride in the quantity and quality of trained personnel in the field of communications and information technology.
President El-Sisi stressed the importance of striving towards a transition to an integrated digital society, supporting independent professionals and increasing their number, expanding training and building digital capabilities through applied technology schools and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), and investing in human resources, especially the youth.
This is in addition to providing grants, training, as well as capacity-building and qualification programs, to be commensurate with the modern requirements of the job market and the knowledge-based economy.
