President El-Sisi receives General Al-Burhan at Cairo Airport

Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, today at Cairo Airport. The two leaders then proceeded to Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where an official reception ceremony was held, including the playing of the national anthems.

The spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the two sides held a closed meeting, followed by an expanded session attended by delegations from both countries. The discussions focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and Egypt’s active contribution to the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts for the damage caused by the war in Sudan.

The talks also addressed the continuation of joint projects in vital areas such as electrical interconnection, railways, trade, culture, science, and cooperation in health, agriculture, industry, and mining, among other sectors. These efforts aim to achieve the desired integration between the two countries and maximize the use of their vast resources for the benefit of both peoples.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, added that the consultations also covered the latest developments on the ground in Sudan, especially the progress made by the Sudanese Armed Forces in regaining control of the capital, Khartoum. Both sides agreed on the need to intensify efforts to provide necessary support and assistance to Sudanese citizens residing in conflict zones.

He also noted that the meeting included an exchange of views on current regional issues, particularly in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. The two countries shared a unified vision, given the strong link between the national security of Egypt and Sudan.

They agreed to continue coordination and joint action to safeguard their water security, reject unilateral measures in the Blue Nile Basin, and uphold international law to ensure mutual benefit for all nations in the Nile Basin.
