Sisi receives Iranian FM

Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Cairo, in a meeting attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister and Minister of Immigration Badr Abdel Aaty, and General Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad.

According to presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Minister Araghchi conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to President El-Sisi. The Egyptian president welcomed the message and both sides affirmed the importance of continuing the current path of dialogue and exploring opportunities for developing bilateral relations between Egypt and Iran.

The meeting addressed the rapidly evolving regional developments. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position against the expansion of the conflict zone, warning of the grave consequences of sliding into a full-scale regional war. He stressed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions, highlighting the dangers such a war would pose to the security and resources of all nations and peoples in the region.

He also emphasized the significance of the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States as a means to reduce tensions.

President El-Sisi also reiterated Egypt’s call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. He stressed the necessity of restoring safe and normal maritime navigation through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea, underlining its strategic importance to global trade and regional stability.

For his part, Minister Araghchi praised Egypt’s role in restoring regional stability and expressed Iran’s desire to maintain continuous consultation and cooperation with Egypt in the coming period.

This high-level meeting reflects the growing momentum toward rebuilding communication channels between Cairo and Tehran, amid shared concerns over regional escalation and a mutual interest in contributing to broader Middle East stability.
