Egypt Daily News – Amid ongoing devastation in the Gaza Strip, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued a direct appeal to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to use his influence to help end the war and ensure the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian enclave.
In a televised address aired on Egypt’s state-affiliated “Cairo News Channel” on Monday, President Sisi said, “President Trump is capable of stopping the war, facilitating the delivery of aid, and putting an end to this suffering.”
Addressing Trump personally, President Sisi stated: “This is a special appeal to you, please do all you can to stop this war and allow humanitarian assistance in. I believe the time has come to bring this war to an end.”
Humanitarian Crisis and the Call for International Responsibility
President Sisi emphasized the urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza, pointing out that under normal conditions, the territory requires between 600 to 700 aid trucks daily just to meet basic needs. That demand has only intensified under siege and bombardment.
He reiterated Egypt’s longstanding position in support of the Palestinian cause, saying Cairo has consistently sought ways to reduce tensions and de-escalate the situation. “We have a respected and principled stance toward the Palestinian issue. We remain committed to seeking solutions that ease the violence and help end the war,” he said.
President Sisi also stressed the broader international responsibility in addressing the crisis. He called on the European Union, the United States, and the global community at large to increase pressure and efforts to bring the conflict to a close and ensure life-saving aid reaches civilians.
“Our position has been clear in rejecting displacement,” President Sisi added, referring to concerns that the ongoing war could lead to the forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza. “We have warned that such displacement undermines the two-state solution, and we have worked constructively with our partners in Qatar and the U.S. since October 7 to focus on three critical priorities: ending the war, delivering humanitarian aid, and securing the release of hostages.”
A Fragile Regional Landscape
Egypt, which borders the Gaza Strip and controls the key Rafah border crossing, has played a central if complicated role in the crisis. While it has facilitated the entry of limited aid and negotiated ceasefire proposals alongside international partners, the flow of assistance has remained woefully inadequate in the face of catastrophic conditions on the ground.
President Sisi’s appeal to President Trump underscores Egypt’s growing frustration with the international response and its desire to see immediate, concrete actions taken to prevent further loss of life.
With Gaza teetering on the brink of total humanitarian collapse, President Sisi’s message adds to the growing chorus of calls from regional and international actors demanding an urgent end to hostilities and the unimpeded delivery of aid to civilians trapped in the war zone.
