In a high-level meeting held at Egypt’s Al-Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the latest regional developments, with particular emphasis on the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. The visit by the Emirati leader was framed as a “brotherly” one, reflecting the close and strategic ties between the two nations.

The two leaders voiced their support for the peace initiative recently proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at halting hostilities in Gaza. They emphasized the importance of backing this initiative as a step toward laying the groundwork for a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region. Both Egypt and the UAE have positioned themselves as key players in regional diplomacy, often working in tandem to stabilize tensions across the Middle East.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El Shennawy, the summit featured an expanded meeting between the two official delegations, followed by a closed-door bilateral session between Sisi and Bin Zayed. The talks concluded with a working luncheon hosted in honor of the Emirati delegation.

President Sisi opened the meeting by highlighting the strength and depth of Egypt-UAE relations, which he described as a model of Arab cooperation. He praised the significant growth in bilateral collaboration across multiple sectors, especially trade and investment, underscoring Egypt’s commitment to removing any barriers that might hinder Emirati investments in the country.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, in turn, commended Egypt’s rapidly evolving investment climate, noting the country’s substantial efforts to improve its business environment. He emphasized that the UAE views Egypt as a pivotal partner in the region and expressed appreciation for the ongoing reforms that have made Egypt a more attractive destination for international capital.

The visit, part of ongoing and close coordination between Cairo and Abu Dhabi, comes at a time of heightened instability in the region, particularly due to the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza. Both nations have played active roles in international diplomatic circles, calling for de-escalation and humanitarian access, while simultaneously pushing for a sustainable resolution to the decades-long conflict.

Observers see this meeting as another signal of the strengthening strategic alliance between Egypt and the UAE, an alliance increasingly vital as the region grapples with shifting geopolitical dynamics and escalating crises.
