Egypt Daily News – On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the October victories, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi commemorating the event placed wreaths on the tombs of the Unknown Soldier, as well as former leaders Anwar Sadat and Gamal Abdel Nasser. This act is part of the larger celebrations by Egypt and its armed forces, reflecting on the significance of the October War.
President El-Sisi, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was accompanied by General Abdel Meguid Saker, the Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defense, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, the Chief of Staff. Together, they laid a wreath at the memorial for Armed Forces martyrs in Nasr City, where military bands performed the Martyr’s Anthem, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Egypt.
Following this, President El-Sisi visited the graves of both Sadat and Nasser. At Sadat’s grave, he recited Al-Fatiha, a prayer in honor of the deceased, and interacted with Sadat’s family. He continued the tribute at Nasser’s grave, similarly laying a wreath and reciting prayers while meeting with Nasser’s relatives.
Later, President El-Sisi chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces at the Strategic Command, where he extended his congratulations to the Egyptian people and military personnel on this significant anniversary. The meeting also covered various topics regarding the armed forces’ role in safeguarding national security across all strategic directions, alongside discussions on recent developments in the region.
In closing the meeting, President El-Sisi expressed his gratitude to the armed forces for their dedication and sacrifices, emphasizing their crucial role in ensuring the security and stability of the nation.
