Egypt Daily News – President El-Sisi has directed the formation of a specialized committee to investigate the cause of the fire that broke out at the Ramses Central telecommunications building in downtown Cairo, according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Madbouly stated that President Sisi emphasized the urgency of completing all necessary steps to restore the full range and quality of services previously provided through the central office.

Earlier, Telecom Egypt announced a partial disruption of internet and landline services in Cairo and Giza due to the massive blaze at the Ramses Central exchange. In a statement, the company said the fire had damaged several key cables within the building, leading to partial service outages, particularly in central Cairo and parts of Giza.

The fire broke out on Monday morning in the upper floors of the Ramses Central building, sending thick smoke into the air. Firefighters responded swiftly and managed to contain the blaze before it spread to other parts of the facility.

Engineer Mohamed Nasr Eldin, Chairman of Telecom Egypt, arrived at the scene shortly after the fire began, accompanied by several executives and company officials. The delegation assessed the extent of the damage and monitored restoration efforts on-site to ensure services could be reinstated as quickly as possible.

Despite the fire being brought under control, the cause remains unknown, and a full damage assessment has yet to be completed. Internal sources at the company have suggested that the fire may have originated in one of the administrative offices before spreading to other areas of the building.
