Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah Sisi received today, at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, President Hakainde Hichilema of the Republic of Zambia to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and consult on regional developments.
In mid-February, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with President Hakainde Hichilema of the Republic of Zambia, where they discussed several issues of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mohamed Gad, Egypt’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, along with Dr. Hanan Morsi, Egypt’s candidate for the position of Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah Sisi to the President of Zambia, expressing his anticipation for President Hichilema’s upcoming visit to Egypt in response to an invitation from President Sisi. He emphasized the significance of this visit, as it marks President Hichilema’s first state visit to Cairo.
Madbouly emphasized that the upcoming visit of the Zambian president to Egypt will provide a strong boost to strengthening the deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries.
He highlighted the importance of the distinguished historical and political ties between Egypt and Zambia, expressing his aspiration to elevate economic relations to the same level as political relations.
The Prime Minister expressed his eagerness to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Zambia in various fields, noting the possibility of signing several memorandums of understanding to boost collaboration in agriculture, investment expansion, and fisheries.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly pointed out that the Zambian president’s visit to Egypt will include the organization of an Egypt-Zambia Business Forum. This reflects Cairo’s commitment to strengthening economic relations with Lusaka, focusing on key sectors prioritized by Zambia, where Egypt holds a competitive advantage. These sectors include infrastructure, energy, renewable energy, agriculture, and healthcare.
