Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the call reaffirmed the deep ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom, as well as the commitment of both leaders to strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, particularly trade and investment, to serve the interests and aspirations of both nations.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shinawy, added that the call also addressed regional developments. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, facilitate the exchange of detainees, and deliver humanitarian aid to the people of the region.

Both President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Starmer emphasized the need to promptly begin the reconstruction of Gaza without the displacement of its residents, stressing that such efforts are essential for restoring regional stability. President El-Sisi reiterated that the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, remains the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

The spokesperson also noted that the call covered the situations in Syria, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia, and explored ways to restore stability and safeguard the sovereignty and independence of these nations. The UK Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s key role in the region and affirmed his country’s commitment to ongoing consultations and coordination with Egypt on regional issues of mutual interest.
