Egypt Daily News – During the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly in New Alamein, the focus was on enhancing governance and public service delivery.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regularly convening the Board of Governors to monitor and improve various sectors affecting citizens.

A critical agenda item was the collection of rents related to residential units for those moved from unsafe areas, aimed at ensuring maintenance and sustainability of housing projects.

Dr. Madbouly highlighted the governors’ vital role and accountability in effectively managing this issue, asserting a zero-tolerance policy towards delays in payment collection.

The Minister of Local Development, Dr. Manal Awad, provided insights on the current status of rent collections for alternative slum housing, revealing that, by August 2024, over 3,100 housing units had been withdrawn due to non-payment.

This underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that housing projects remain viable and that state rights are upheld.
