Egypt Daily News – Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Russia is open to dialogue with the administration of US President Donald Trump regarding the Ukrainian conflict.
Putin said during his meeting with members of the Russian Security Council: “We are open to dialogue with the new American administration regarding the Ukrainian conflict, and the most important thing is to eliminate the root causes of the crisis.”
Regarding the settlement of the situation itself, I would like to emphasize once again, that its goal should not be a short truce, nor any kind of break to regroup forces and rearm with the aim of continuing the conflict later, but a long-term peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all people, living in this area.
President Putin stressed that Russia has never rejected dialogue with any American administration. Putin pointed out that Moscow sees statements by US President-elect Donald Trump and his team about their desire to restore direct contacts with Russia. Putin stressed that Moscow welcomes Trump’s position and his words about the need to do everything to prevent a third world war.
Putin stressed that Trump’s victory in the presidential elections was convincing and that the period leading up to the elections was difficult for him in all respects.
Putin stressed that Russia, bases on the fact that dialogue with the United States of America will be built on the basis of equality and mutual respect. Earlier today, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a practical meeting with members of the Russian Security Council.
