Egypt Daily News – Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the proposal of his American counterpart Donald Trump regarding saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk, stated that Kyiv must order its army to surrender.
Putin said during a meeting of the Russian Security Council: “Today, we read the proposal of U.S. President Trump to save the lives of Ukrainian military personnel surrounded by Russian forces in Kursk.”
Putin added: “For the effective implementation of the U.S. president’s call, the Ukrainian military and political leadership must issue an order for their soldiers to lay down their arms and surrender.”
The president pointed out that the Ukrainian armed forces had committed crimes against civilians in the Kursk region, which “the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has classified as terrorism.”
He continued: “We understand President Trump’s call to be guided by humanitarian considerations regarding these soldiers.”
Putin emphasized that if Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region lay down their weapons, their safety and lives will be guaranteed.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had spoken with his Russian counterpart on Thursday and asked him to “show mercy to the completely surrounded Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region” in southwestern Russia.
Trump revealed that his conversation with Putin was very good and constructive and that he asked him to “show mercy to the completely surrounded Ukrainian forces” in the Kursk region.

He said: “The situation in the Kursk region is completely under our control. The forces that infiltrated our territory have been cut off from supplies, are in complete isolation, and are within the range of Russian forces.”
