Russia: “An Unfriendly State” Behind the Crocus Attack

Egypt Daily News – Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko stated that the intelligence service of an “unfriendly” state had been planning and organizing the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall near Moscow, Russia, for a year.

According to Russia Today, Petrenko emphasized that the goal of the attack was to destabilize Russia. She added, “Based on evidence and proof, the investigation concluded that the terrorist act was planned and orchestrated by the security services of a hostile state to destabilize the situation in Russia. Members of an international terrorist organization were involved in its execution.” However, she did not specify the country or the security agencies involved.

Earlier, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov asserted that Ukraine’s military intelligence had a direct connection to the terrorist attack. He claimed that “the criminals recruited by Ukrainian agencies are members of the Khorasan Province terrorist organization, which receives continuous support from the West.”

The attack on Crocus City Hall near Moscow on March 22, 2024, resulted in at least 133 deaths, according to Russian authorities.
