Russian army and units from friendly countries participate in the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism

Moscow Parade First

Egypt Daily News – The military parade in the Russian capital, Moscow, concluded in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, with various formations and military units from Russia and friendly countries passing in front of the main platform.

The military parade, attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, war veterans, and a large number of world leaders, began with the honor guard presenting the national flag of the Russian Federation and the Victory Banner over Nazism and its allies in the Great Patriotic War.

Defense Minister Andrey Belousov inspected the military parade, which was presented to him by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, General Oleg Salyukov. The defense minister then proceeded to salute the military parade and congratulated them on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Taking part in the military parade are 1,500 soldiers involved in the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

Minister Belousov proceeded to the main platform to deliver his final report on the parade’s readiness to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Following President Putin’s speech, the orchestra played the Russian national anthem, accompanied by artillery fire.

Students from the conservatory performed, and the “Honor Guard” battalion carrying the Russian flags, the Victory Banner, and various formations of the Russian armed forces marched past the stands, along with the banners of the ten fronts of the Great Patriotic War. A total of 45 battle flags from renowned military units were also paraded.

Pilots from the war years, who had dominated the skies during the conflict and shattered the myth of Nazi aviators, marched past.

They were followed by sailors representing the naval forces who displayed collective heroism, and a formation from the military engineering corps, who were among the first to pave the way for advancing troops and helped establish peace in areas liberated from the Nazi invaders.

  • Military reconnaissance forces and border guards, who did not retreat under enemy fire and fought to the last bullet, also marched past the platform.
  • A battalion of Cossacks who fought in dozens of battles against enemy forces.
  • The Kremlin Honor Guard from wartime, who took part in the liberation of Vienna, Berlin, and Prague.
  • Units from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took part in the parade, including a unit from the peacekeeping brigade of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
  • A display unit from the special forces brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus participated.
  • An airborne assault display unit represented the Republic of Kazakhstan, and servicemen from the National Guard of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan also took part.
  • Tajikistan was represented by a display unit from the airborne troops, and Turkmenistan by its Honor Guard battalion.
  • A display unit from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan marched past the stands.
  • Also participating were military personnel from the armies of friendly countries, including cadets from the military academy of the Vietnamese army, and a display unit from the military police of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
  • An Honor Guard unit from the People’s Liberation Army of China took part.
  • A display unit from the People’s Army of the Republic of Laos participated.
  • A display unit from the Armed Forces of Mongolia joined the parade.
  • Servicemen from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Myanmar also participated.
  • Cadets from Russian military academies, which have produced heroes during both the Soviet era and the Russian Federation, marched in the parade.
  • Display units consisting of participants in the Russian special military operation in Ukraine were also present, including Heroes of the Russian Federation and decorated servicemen.
  • The parade included a march by the Russian Military Academy, featuring officers who participated in the special operation and are considered the future leaders of the Russian army.
  • A formation from the Military Academy of Logistics and Technical Support, which provides the army with everything necessary to achieve victory, also took part.
  • Cadets from the Mikhailov Military Academy participated in the march.
  • Female military personnel, most of whom are granddaughters of officer families, also took part in the parade.
  • The Russian Space Forces Regiment, represented by cadets and officers from the academy that trained some of the most prominent specialists in Soviet and later Russian aviation.
  • The Russian Navy Regiment, which began with the Baltic Fleet cadet regiment.
  • Cadets from the Naval Engineering College, which has graduated over 25,000 officers, many of whom became prominent military leaders.
  • Cadets from the “Peter the Great” Naval Academy, which has been training top admirals for more than 300 years.

Display of Vehicles and Weapons

  • The legendary Soviet T-34 tank led the column of military vehicles participating in the military parade, accompanied by artillery. These weapons played a decisive role in the victory during the war, reaching Berlin after liberating dozens of cities, and the soldiers of these tanks were awarded the title of “Heroes of the Soviet Union.”
  • Combat reconnaissance groups equipped with modern weapons that can be remotely controlled.
  • Infantry fighting vehicles carrying large-caliber guns.
  • “T-72” battle tanks from the first tank regiment.
  • Rocket and artillery forces of the Russian military, capable of operating at maximum range and in the shortest possible combat time.
  • The latest artillery systems, as well as missile systems, designed to inflict maximum damage on the enemy.
  • The “Iskander-M” precision-guided missile battalion.
  • A group from the “7th Independent UAV Regiment,” all of which are effectively used in the special military operation area.
  • Equipment belonging to the Airborne Forces.
  • Strategic missile forces with the “Yars” system, which are notable for their ability to be deployed secretly and for bypassing current and future air defense systems.
  • Armored personnel carriers “Boomerang” that provide reliable protection for personnel.

Aerial Display

  • The aerobatic team featuring the air display groups “Russian Knights” and “Swallows” aboard MiG-29 fighter jets.
  • The aerial display concluded with 6 Su-25 aircraft, which decorated the skies of Moscow with the colors of the Russian Federation flag.

The military parade ended with a performance by the military band of the song “Victory Day.”
