South Korean President Lee Jae Myung arrived in Cairo on Wednesday for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and launching new South Korean initiatives for the Middle East.

Lee’s visit follows a three-day state trip to the United Arab Emirates, the first stop on his four-nation tour, which will also take him to South Africa and Turkey.

During his time in Cairo, Lee is scheduled to hold summit talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and South Korea, providing a symbolic backdrop for the meetings.

After the summit, Lee will deliver a speech at Cairo University to present his vision for deeper engagement with the Middle East, according to South Korea’s National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac. The president will also meet with Korean residents in Egypt, emphasizing the importance of community and people-to-people ties.

On Friday, Lee will continue his tour by flying to Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend the Group of 20 summit, further highlighting South Korea’s active role in regional and global diplomacy.
