Egypt Daily News – The Syrian army has announced the start of a counterattack on the Aleppo and Idlib countryside. Its said that the attack was towards the sites controlled by terrorist organizations during the last two days, according to the Russian “Sputnik”.

The Russian agency confirmed the arrival of large military reinforcements from the Syrian army’s special forces to the axis of the western Aleppo countryside, which is witnessing violent clashes with armed groups.

Military reinforcements have arrived in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria, on Friday, to repel a large-scale attack launched by armed groups against Syrian government forces, a Syrian security source confirmed to AFP.

The source, requesting that his identity not be revealed, said that there were violent battles and clashes from the west of Aleppo, stressing that they did not reach the city limits. On Friday, fighters of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and its allied factions arrived on the outskirts of Aleppo, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Sources quoted the armed factions as saying that it was 2 kilometers away from the center of Aleppo city after entering the New Aleppo neighborhood following battles with the Syrian army forces.
