Egypt Daily News – The Syrian army has expelled Hezbollah militias from the village of “Housh Al-Sayed Ali” and declared it free of the party’s elements, which had controlled it since 2013.

Sources reported that the army will not advance beyond the town of Housh Al-Sayed Ali and will remain within Syrian territory without penetrating into Lebanon.

Sources also observed the arrival of additional army reinforcements to the border with Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated on Monday that “what is happening on Lebanon’s eastern and northeastern borders cannot continue, and we will not accept its continuation.”

Aoun added, “I have given orders to the Lebanese army to respond to the sources of fire from the other side.” Lebanese Minister of Information also stated, “We are forced to respond to the sources of fire from Syria until they are silenced.”

On Monday, clashes and mutual shelling reignited along the Syrian-Lebanese border. This comes after intermittent skirmishes between the army and Hezbollah fighters, following the infiltration of Hezbollah elements across the border and the kidnapping, torture and killing of three Syrian soldiers.

Media reported that eight soldiers were killed due to a missile strike launched by Hezbollah on the countryside of Homs.

The Lebanese army stated that communication is ongoing with Syrian authorities to maintain security, noting that it had responded to fire coming from territory that targeted Lebanese towns.
