Egypt Daily News – Earlier, terrorist organizations took control of the city of Hama, the fourth largest Syrian city located in the center of the country, days after they took control of Aleppo as part of a surprise attack.
Hama is a strategic city deep in Syria, linking Aleppo to Damascus.
The terrorist organizations, led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, stormed the city after fierce battles with regime forces, announcing the release of hundreds of prisoners from the Hama Central Prison, which they also entered.
The Syrian army acknowledged its loss of the strategic city of Hama, noting that the military units stationed there had redeployed and repositioned outside the city.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that terrorist organizations entered Hama after a night of violent confrontations “from several sides, and are waging a street war against regime forces in several neighborhoods.”
Controlling Hama, according to Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman, would “pose a threat to the regime’s popular base,” with the concentration of the Alawite minority, from which President Bashar al-Assad belongs to, in its western countryside.
Explosions and gunfire have been heard in Damascus as terrorist organizations used drones in ab attack on the capital and the gunfire sound was the attempts to shoot them down.
