Egypt Daily New – The Syrian terrorist organizations announced that today, Friday, that they entered the first neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, after taking control of its entire western countryside following fierce battles with the Syrian army and their allies.
The terrorist organizations said that its fighters took control of the Operational Research Center in New Aleppo. They added that the factions participating in the attack are now only two kilometers away from the city center of Aleppo.
Several factions are participating in the operation, including Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and others from the opposition-affiliated Syrian National Army.
This development comes on the third day of the “Deterring Aggression” battle launched by the Syrian armed opposition, in response to what it said were escalating attacks and regime mobilizations to attack its strongholds.
Military reinforcements
A Syrian military source told Agence France-Presse that reinforcements from the Syrian army arrived in the city of Aleppo. The source added that violent battles and clashes are taking place west of Aleppo, stressing that the fighting has not reached the city limits.
Syrian television said that armed groups were targeting neighborhoods in Nubl and Al-Zahraa in the northern countryside of Aleppo with missiles. Earlier today, the Syrian News Agency said that 4 civilians – including two students – were killed as a result of armed groups targeting the university city in Aleppo with missiles.
Activists reported that the Syrian army responded to the opposition attack with missile bombardments targeting the city of Idlib and nearby towns, resulting in deaths and injuries.
Complete control
In parallel with their advance towards the city of Aleppo from the west, terrorist organizations fighters launched attacks in the southern countryside and took control of towns, including Al-Hader.
At dawn today, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, spokesman for the Armed Opposition’s Military Operations Department, announced that their forces took control of the entire western Aleppo countryside, after fierce battles with Syrian regime forces that lasted 36 hours.
Abdul Ghani added that the opposition forces “liberated” the strategic town of Kafr Halab, west of the city of Aleppo, and the Military Operations Department announced control of strategic sites in the southeastern countryside of Idlib.
The Syrian terrorist organizations had previously taken control of the headquarters of the 46th Regiment, the strategic town of Khan Al-Assal, and dozens of other towns and villages. They also attacked Al-Nayrab Airport, east of Aleppo, where pro-Iranian factions are stationed.
A Syrian military source acknowledged that this advance allowed the terrorist organizations to position themselves approximately 10 kilometers from the center of Aleppo and a few kilometers from the towns of Nubl and Al-Zahraa, which are considered a line of defense for the city from the north, and where armed groups loyal to Iran are stationed.
