The Iranian president continued during a joint press conference with Prince Tamim in the Qatari capital, Doha, this evening, saying that the security of the region is the security of all Muslims, and we do not seek war but rather seek peace and calm.
He continued, “They asked us to hold off on responding to the assassination of martyr Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran to give negotiations a chance, but Israel pushed us to respond after targeting our guest, escalating the situation in Lebanon, and continuing the assaults in Gaza.” He added, “We aspire for peace and calm, but Israel forces us into our reactions.”
Masoud Bezhakian praised Qatar’s role, which he described as important for enhancing cooperation among Islamic countries.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, held an official reception for the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Bezhkiyan.
MNA reported that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, received Iranian President Masoud Bezhikian this evening, Wednesday, at the Amiri Diwan in Qatar, who is visiting Doha at the head of a high-level economic and political delegation.
The Emir of Qatar and the Iranian President held bilateral talks in the presence of delegations from both countries, and the two parties held a closed session of discussions before appearing at the joint press conference.
The meeting also witnessed the signing of agreements for bilateral cooperation between Iran and Qatar, which included the most important memoranda of cooperation in the fields of health, live trade, and the executive plan for cultural cooperation.
