Three US service members were killed during military operations against Iran, the US Central Command said Sunday, marking the first confirmed American fatalities in the ongoing campaign.

In a statement, United States Central Command said five additional personnel were seriously wounded during Operation Epic Fury, the joint US-Israeli military operation targeting Iranian sites.

“Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are in the process of being returned to duty,” CENTCOM said in a social media post, adding that major combat operations remain underway.

The command described the situation as fluid and said it would withhold further details, including the identities of the fallen service members, until at least 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

The announcement underscores the rising human toll of the rapidly escalating confrontation between Washington and Tehran, following coordinated US and Israeli strikes that triggered a broad Iranian retaliatory campaign across the region.

US officials have not disclosed the precise location of the incident or the circumstances surrounding the casualties. However, the confirmation of American combat deaths signals a significant escalation in direct military involvement.

CENTCOM said response efforts are ongoing and indicated further updates would be provided as the situation develops.
