Egypt Daily News – US President Donald Trump has anticipated his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Tuesday afternoon, at the White House, saying that there are no guarantees that the Gaza truce will hold on.
Trump’s words were told by reporters at the White House, Monday, while signing a new round of executive orders confirming the appointments of foreign envoys, including Steve Whitcom, as well as an executive order that directs the treasury and trade ministers to take steps towards establishing a sovereign wealth fund, with expectations of another executive order that prohibited Future financing of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
In his statement, Trump indicated that he will discuss with Netanyahu to include parts of the West Bank to Israel.
Meanwhile, White House officials expressed great optimism in the upcoming meeting between Trump and Netanyahu. A White House official (refusing to mention his name) described the atmosphere as “positive”, noting that the Trump envoy to the Middle East, Steve Whitchov, practiced pressure on Netanyahu about his desire to return to the resumption of fighting.
The meeting between Trump and Netanyahu comes against a tense background on the start of the second stage talks of the agreement, which is supposed to lead to the end of the war, which requires the replacement of Hamas controlling the Gaza Strip by another entity that Israel can accept, and the Palestinians and the Arab countries can, plus that it is recognized by a legitimate entity to rule the Gaza Strip, after the end of the war.
Netanyahu’s visit is the first to the White House during President Trump’s second term, and it bears indications that clarify the priorities of the new administration in reaching the end of chaos in the Middle East, and achieving peace that confirms Trump’s endeavor as a man who ends wars and achieves peace. President Trump has confirmed on several occasions that the solution to the quagmire of conflicts in the Middle East would be easier than concluding a deal that ends the Russian war in Ukraine.
In statements to reporters on Sunday evening, Trump said that the ceasefire negotiations are witnessing progress, and that he would hold major meetings with Netanyahu.
