Egypt Daily News – In yet another stunning outburst, former U.S. President Donald Trump has declared he is “seriously considering” revoking the American citizenship of actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, a move legal experts have already blasted as unconstitutional and legally impossible.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Since Rosie O’Donnell does not serve the interests of our great country, I am seriously considering revoking her citizenship.” He then added, in his trademark provocative style: “She is a threat to humanity and should stay in beautiful Ireland—if they’ll have her.”

The post immediately triggered a firestorm of criticism and disbelief, with legal analysts pointing to the clear protections enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. The 14th Amendment states unequivocally that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States… are citizens,” and that their rights cannot be stripped arbitrarily.
“There is absolutely no legal basis for a president to unilaterally revoke the citizenship of a natural-born U.S. citizen,” said one constitutional law professor. “It’s not only impossible—it’s dangerous rhetoric.”
Trump’s decades-long feud with Rosie O’Donnell is one of his most public and personal celebrity grudges. The conflict began during her time as co-host of The View, when O’Donnell publicly criticized Trump’s business ethics and personal behavior. Trump, never one to hold back, fired back with vitriol, calling her “fat,” “a loser,” and “a woman out of control,” even threatening to sue her.
This latest escalation suggesting a sitting or former president could use citizenship as a weapon against a private citizen, has alarmed many observers who see it as an authoritarian gesture.
“This isn’t just about Rosie anymore,” said a former U.S. diplomat. “It’s about a political figure once again toying with the idea of punishing dissent by threatening fundamental rights. That should terrify everyone.”
O’Donnell, a longtime critic of Trump, has not yet publicly responded to the post. However, the internet was quick to rally to her defense, with hashtags like #IStandWithRosie and #TrumpThreat rising on X (formerly Twitter) within hours.
As the political climate in the U.S. heats up ahead of the 2024 election cycle, Trump’s latest statement underscores just how far he’s willing to go to attack those who oppose him—even if it means challenging the bedrock of American citizenship.
