Egypt Daily News – The US allies and foes alike refused US President Donald Trump’s suggestion for the USA to take over Gaza and resettle its Palestinian population permanently, and condemned it immediately.

Trump’s proposal came at a press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who smiled several times while the president was explaining in detail a plan to build new settlements for the Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip, and that the United States would take over the development of the war -torn region to what he called “Riviera Middle East”.

Egypt, Jordan and other American allies in the Middle East rejected the idea, and in the wake of Trump’s statements, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement confirming the need for rebuilding “without removing the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.”

Saudi Arabia, an important American ally, weighed in quickly on Trump’s expanded idea to take over the Gaza Strip in a sharply worded statement, noting that its long call for an independent Palestinian state was a “firm, steadfast and unwavering position.”

“The kingdom of Saudi Arabia also stresses what it had previously announced regarding its absolute rejection of infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, whether through Israeli settlement policies, annexation of Palestinian lands or efforts to displace the Palestinian people from their land,” the statement said.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz told reporters in Canberra, Australia, that his country has long supported the two -state solution in the Middle East and that nothing has changed and said: “Australia’s position is the same as it was this morning, and as it was last year, and as it was 10 years ago.”

The New Zealand Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “its long -term support for the two -state solution,” it added, adding that it also “will not comment on every proposal to be offered.”

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, confirmed on Beijing’s long support for the two -state solution. He said: “We are opposing the forced deportation of people in Gaza and we hope that the parties concerned will take the ceasefire and rule after the war in Gaza as an opportunity to push the Palestinian issue to the right track.”

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told Anatolia Agency that Trump’s proposal to “deporting Palestinians from Gaza is not something that the region accepts or we,” and added: “Even thinking about the matter, in my opinion, is wrong and ridiculous.”
