Egypt Daily News – In response to escalating tensions in the Middle East, the United States has authorized the voluntary departure of military families stationed in Bahrain and Kuwait. A U.S. official confirmed to Reuters that the decision is temporary and precautionary, underscoring Washington’s focus on the safety and security of American personnel and their families.
The official stated, “The safety and security of our service members and their families remain a top priority. U.S. Central Command continues to closely monitor the evolving situation in the region.” He added that CENTCOM is working in close coordination with the U.S. State Department, as well as regional allies and partners, to maintain a high level of readiness for supporting missions worldwide at any time.
In addition to military families, the U.S. State Department has authorized the departure of non-essential embassy personnel and their families from both Bahrain and Kuwait. According to the Associated Press, these measures follow threats from Iran and growing concerns about regional instability.
The U.S. Navy has also declared a heightened state of alert at its naval base in Bahrain, signaling increased military vigilance amid the tense geopolitical climate.
Meanwhile, informed sources said that Washington has initiated plans to reduce the number of foreign contractors working in logistical support roles at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. This move is reportedly part of a broader effort by the State Department to cut operational costs at various diplomatic missions globally.
The Associated Press also reported that the U.S. embassy in Iraq is preparing for a potential organized evacuation due to increased security risks. An Iraqi security official and an American source indicated that this measure is being planned as a precaution. The goal is to carry out the evacuation through commercial means, though the U.S. military is ready to assist if necessary.
Tensions have been further inflamed by recent statements from Iranian officials. Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh warned earlier today that Iran would target U.S. bases in the region should nuclear negotiations fail or conflict erupt with Washington.
The situation remains fluid, with Western nations reportedly warning their citizens about possible security threats in the Middle East. U.S. authorities have emphasized that these actions are precautionary and reflect a strategic approach to safeguard personnel in light of rising regional threats.
