Egypt Daily News – A domestic flight in Brazil tragically crashed on Friday in the state of São Paulo, with 62 people on board, consisting of 58 passengers and four crew members.

The ATR 72 plane was en route from Cascavel in the state of Paraná to Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo when it crashed in Vinhedo, a city located approximately 80 kilometers northwest of São Paulo.

As of now, reports indicate that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva suggested it “appeared” that all those on board had perished in the incident.

The São Paulo Fire Service mobilized seven teams to respond to the crash but has not provided an official casualty figure yet.

Voibus, the airline operating the flight, confirmed the accident involving Flight 2283 and stated that details surrounding the circumstances of the crash remain unverified.

Eyewitness accounts and broadcast footage show the plane descending rapidly, leading to scenes of smoke rising from what appeared to be a residential area.

During an official event in Itajay, President Lula acknowledged the tragedy, calling for a minute of silence to honor the victims.

The local community of Vinhedo, which has around 76,000 residents, is in mourning as investigations into the crash are underway.
