Egypt Daily News – Zamalek was eliminated from the African Confederation Cup in the quarterfinals after a surprising loss at home to South Africa’s Stellenbosch, 1-0, in a match held at Cairo International Stadium. The game saw a lackluster performance from Zamalek’s players, with a clear absence of any real danger on goal, relying excessively on crosses. Meanwhile, the visiting team’s attacks were fast, organized, and repeatedly posed a threat to the “White Knight” defense.
The only goal of the match came in the 79th minute from Sihle Nduli, who received a cross inside the penalty area and struck it directly into the net, beating goalkeeper Mohamed Awad.
Nabil Emad “Dunga” nearly equalized for Zamalek in the 82nd minute with a shot that went just wide of the post, but his efforts weren’t enough to save the team from elimination.
The first leg in South Africa had ended in a goalless draw, and Stellenbosch secured their spot in the semifinals with a 1-0 aggregate score, leaving Zamalek’s performance and future uncertain, with many questions surrounding their exit from the tournament.
