Egypt Daily News – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer warmly embraced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday as the Ukrainian leader arrived in London for talks following a tense exchange with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.

During a remarkable Oval Office meeting on Friday, Trump reportedly threatened to end U.S. support for Ukraine, three years after Russia’s invasion of the country.

In London, a crowd cheered as Zelensky arrived for discussions with Starmer at 10 Downing Street ahead of a European leaders’ summit on Sunday, where the Ukrainian president is set to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine.

Starmer told Zelenskyy, “I hope you heard some of the cheers on the street. That is the British people coming out to show their support for you… and our absolute determination to stand with you.”

He assured Zelenskyy of “full support across Britain” and added, “We stand with you and with Ukraine, for as long as it takes.”

On Friday, Starmer spoke separately with both Trump and Zelensky, while French President Emmanuel Macron had met with Trump in Washington days earlier.

Zelenskyy is also scheduled to meet King Charles on Sunday, with British newspaper The Sun reporting that the meeting will take place at the king’s Sandringham estate in eastern England.
