Egypt Daily News – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed regret on Tuesday for his dispute in the Oval Office with U.S. President Donald Trump last week. He stated that he is ready to sign the rare earth metals and security agreement with the United States “at any time and in any suitable format.”
Zelenskyy’s statements come a day after Trump suspended all military aid to Ukraine. They also represent a response to the conditions set by the White House to end the diplomatic crisis, following requests from U.S. officials for Zelenskyy to publicly apologize to Trump and sign the metals agreement in order to restore U.S.-Ukraine relations.
Previously, the Ukrainian president had stated that he saw no reason to apologize after the intense confrontation with Trump and his vice president, J.D. Vance, at the White House last Friday. However, he has now reversed his stance.
In a post on platform X, Zelenskyy wrote, “Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go as it was supposed to. It is unfortunate that it happened this way. It is time to set things right. We want future cooperation and communication to be constructive.”
He reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to ending the war, stating that the country is “ready to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible to achieve lasting peace.”
