13% decrease in the price of a ton of flour after the Prime Minister’s directives

EgyptDailyNews - The Bakery Division in Cairo revealed that flour prices decreased by 2,000 pounds per ton, as the price of a ton of flour reached 21,000 pounds, then fell to 19,000 pounds in the past few days.

In this regard, Khaled Fekry, General Secretary and spokesman for the Bakeries Division in Cairo, said that the price rates for flour have decreased in the past few days, with the rate of decline reaching approximately 13%, in light of the availability of flour of various types.

He continued, as a ton of "Al-Khattab flour" decreased by 2,000 pounds, the types, Haram, and tabaqi, and Al-Marwa flour, 1,450 pounds, and Hayl flour, 1,950 pounds, in addition to the decrease in the price of a ton of flour globally to 1,100 pounds, and the princes flour to 500 pounds, and Taj to 700 pounds.

He pointed out that loose flour mills will reduce prices successively after the end of the Eid holiday.

On the other hand, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce had announced an abundance of all essential and non-essential goods after the large release of goods at the ports, and competition between producers and importers began to reduce prices.

The Federation added, in a previous press statement, about the continued decline in wholesale prices for all basic commodities, which exceeded 25% in many commodities and returned to the average in mid-2023, and the decline will gradually appear in retail prices in the coming short period.

Alaa Ezz, Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, noted that major producers of basic commodities issued new price lists after meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Prices were reduced compared to pre-float prices by rates ranging from 10-25%, and major commercial chains reduced prices based on these lists.
